What did your elementary school music program look like? Did you have a particularly passionate teacher who made the class incredibly memorable? Perhaps you were given an instrument that you had never seen before and were able to create amazing sounds with it. Whatever the answer, prepare to be humbled.

A Reddit post depicting a group of elementary-age children absolutely crushing a cover of Ozzy Osbourne's classic 1980 song “Crazy Train” recently went viral. In the video, a classroom of kids expertly play xylophones, drums, keyboards, and a single bass guitar. The result is incredible.  They even stay on beat for the entire song without the use of sheet music.

The video was originally published on YouTube in 2012.  At the time, the kids were 4th-6th graders participating in the Louisville Leopard Percussionists, which is a non-profit organization “offering extracurricular music opportunities to local children at little or no cost.” The program has been operating in the Louisville, Kentucky area since 1993, and it is clear that the kids are incredibly passionate about what they are doing. Their energy is truly infectious. Even Ozzy Osbourne took notice, saying, “Myself, my whole family, and my fans all loved your rendition of “Crazy Train.” Keep up the good work!” In 2018, a group of children participating in the program even had the chance to perform for Osbourne and his family.

Since the original video is over a decade old, one can only wonder what the kids featured in it are up to now. How many of them have decided to pursue music, either as a hobby or as a career? Judging by the amount of talent captured in the video, it isn't a stretch that say that any one of those kids could go as far as they want. As one Redditor said, “Amazing. That teacher changed every one of those kids' lives.”

The Death Star may be best known for blowing up Alderaan in Star Wars, but now it also does a great job of blowing up popcorn kernels and turning them into a delicious snack. By producing a vortex of hot air, the Death Star Popcorn Maker pops kernels using heat alone, without needing butter or oil. This clever design also ensures that all kernels are toasted to perfection without being burnt.

The ingenious machine comes in two spherical halves. The bottom portion is placed on a stand bearing the Star Wars logo, and that is where the popcorn is made. The top half of the Death Star can conveniently be repurposed as a bowl that can sit beneath your machine and collect the freshly popped popcorn. With its unique design, it is perfect for your next Star Wars marathon, as long as you are okay with sharing with your friends and family.

In addition to the out-of-this-world design, the popcorn maker's other main strength is how low maintenance it is. The only cleaning that the machine requires is emptying out the unpopped kernels after each use. With a 98% pop rate, this shouldn't be too taxing, and will certainly take less time than having to wipe out any grease. However, if you like your popcorn with extra seasoning (or would prefer the butter and oil that the machine is lacking) feel free to add it to the batch once it is finished popping. You shouldn't have to wait very long, as it will only take two to three minutes to finish a batch of popcorn with this convenient machine.

The popcorn maker is designed by Uncanny Brands, which specializes in creating pop-culture-themed kitchen ware. If one piece of Star Wars memorabilia isn't enough, be sure to head over to their website, where they have everything from waffle makers to blenders that are all modeled after beloved characters from the series such as R2-D2 and Grogu from The Mandalorian.

Thankfully, the Death Star Popcorn Maker is not in a galaxy far, far away, and can be purchased off of Amazon for $59.99 or directly from the Uncanny Brands website for the same price.

Uncanny Brands recently released a Death Star-shaped popcorn maker.

Haunting Handwoven Wire Masks Blur the Line Between Surreal Sculpture and Stylish Fashion

Wearable art is equal parts fashionable and functional, bringing together the aesthetic eye and purposeful planning of artists and designers. Sculptor Giacomo Bevanati fills the roles of both artist and designer with his remarkably intricate wire masks. Each piece is meticulously handwoven to create an air of intrigue and mystery for the wearer.

Bevanati deftly manipulates the brass and steel wires with his skilled fingers. “It's some kind of a duel, really,” the London-based artist explains in his short documentary, Metal Love. “A dance, almost. The wire goes where I want it to go, and sometimes, I just have to follow it and find out where it takes me.”

Even more impressive, all of his designs are freehand creations. The artist does not have a clear pattern laid out when he starts, which means that each of his masks is 100% original; no other piece is exactly like it.

Many of Bevanati’s masks have a haunting aura, reminiscent of Renaissance Carnival and masquerade costumes. Instead of trying to obscure the wearer's identity, however, these masks are nearly transparent, allowing viewers to see most of the eyes and face of the person beneath. Some masks hug the face closely, essentially serving as a cover. Others are more elaborate, often modeled after animals—both real and from legend. Because of this, many of his masks feel as though they belong within the pages of a rich fantasy novel, instead of gracing our world with their beauty.

But not all of the artist's creations are classically inspired. Recently, he made a pair of gilded snapback caps, which he created using the same wire threading techniques he uses in all of his work. Bevanati's expansive portfolio also features a truly dapper silver top hat, which is sure to make anyone who wears it the star of their dinner party.

As impressive as they are, Bevanati's masks are far from the only wearable art he has created. He also has a storied career in designing three-dimensional sculptures, which are made out of the same woven wire as his masks. They often resemble real-life objects, including pineapples, pigs, and pipes. All are either made of silver or gold wire, adding an air of sophistication to his already stunning creations.

To keep up with Bevanati's creative journey, you can follow him on Instagram. For a full list of his masks, be sure to check out the photo gallery on his website.

Giacomo Bevanati is a London-based artist known for his intricate masks that he creates by weaving brass and steel wire together.

With their fantastical designs that are reminiscent of masks worn during the Italian Renaissance, many of his creations have an otherworldly feel to them.

Though he may not always know how the final product will look, there is often some sort of animal element to it.

Whether his creations are animalistic, mythical, or inspired by the human form, they are all surreal works of art that simultaneously give the wearer cover and draw attention to them.

6-Year-Old Girl Breaks World Record for Lowest Limbo Roller Skating

Limbo skating is one sport that many people may not have heard of; but once you see it, i you’ll never forget it. The activity is a feat of athleticism and acrobatics, as it involves participants riding on roller skates underneath a low obstacle. In practice, this manifests itself in the form of the athlete basically doing the splits while pressing their body as low to the ground as possible, hence the “limbo” part of the name. Needless to say, the sport is extreme and requires a huge amount of flexibility and core strength. Surprisingly, the record for the lowest limbo skate has just been set by a 6-year-old girl.

Takshvi Vaghani, the new Guinness World Record holder from the state of Gujarat in India, made history with her impressive achievement. The record for lowest limbo skate wasn't actually measured by how low to the ground she got—instead, she became the record holder by skating for 25 meters (about 82 feet) straight. She also managed to do this while staying only 16.5 centimeters (less than 6.5 inches) above the ground.

Vaghani has been practicing her sport since she was 3, meaning that she has been doing this for half of her life. It seems that her passion has certainly paid off, as she is being labeled a limbo skating prodigy. Since it is so early on in her athletic career, one can only wonder what other accomplishments the young skater might be able to add to her repertoire in the years to come.

The video of her accomplishment recently made its way to Reddit, where the comments section is filled with praise and congratulations for the tiny titan. Some chimed in with puns, with the top comment saying, “It's a good achievement, but it was a very low bar.” Additionally, others point out that after she is done skating, she needs to get up at the end without using her hands, or else it invalidates the entire record, which certainly makes her athletic feat even more astounding.

Teachers are in unique positions to impact their young students' lives and make positive change. This influence is especially important when students are young. That's why many people have fond memories of their elementary school teachers and the supportive relationship they forged with them. A recent viral video illustrates this wholesome and long-lasting connection perfectly.

In the video, a teacher from Thailand demonstrates the morning welcoming process for her pupils. Her students—who number 17 in total—each approach the classroom door in a straight line. Once they get in front of their teacher, they can press their hand against one of six papers hung up on a small board. Each sheet has a different illustration on it, symbolizing a form of greeting. By selecting an image off the board, the student is given the opportunity to decide how they greet their teacher that day. The short video shows some children opting to press the red heart drawing, which earns them a hug from their instructor. Others choose to do a shimmying dance or jump, and the jovial educator joins in on the fun. The most reserved students prefer a high-five or fist bump. Regardless of what they choose, it is clear that all of the students love their teacher.

The video has recently gone viral on Reddit, with commenters weighing in and sharing their opinions. Many wondered if students were influenced by the classmates that went before them when making their decisions. Others shared heartwarming stories about their child's teacher doing something similar at their local school. If the comment section is anything to go by, most of the Redditors who chimed in would have chosen a hug, and that also seems to be the most popular decision amongst the students.

Brian Mock Standing Next To Human Face Sculpture Made Out Of Scrap Metal

After metal products are no longer needed, they often wind up in a landfill. Everything from car parts to cutlery can end up being disposed of in this way, even though they could probably be recycled and used again. This is where artist Brian Mock comes in. For decades, Mock has been sculpting using the metal that he finds exclusively in landfills, repurposing scrap and giving it a second life.

“Giving old, everyday objects a new life as one sculpture is an artistically demanding, yet gratifying, process,” Mock says. “My work is designed to emphasize resourcefulness and encourage viewer engagement. Audience reactions fuel my creativity and help me bring my visions to life.”

Mock is best known for his lifelike animal sculptures, but as impressive as these are, he is also extremely gifted at sculpting people. Even though his work is made of fused metal, it suggests fluidity and motion, providing a dynamic viewing experience. Rock stars leap off their pedestal as they play their guitars, and Paul Revere sits atop his horse, sharing his famous message of “The British are coming!” Even in Mock's more human creations, animals are never far behind, as he often finds a way to incorporate one furry friend or another into his sculptures.

Each artwork deserves a second and third glance, as a closer inspection reveals how the sculptor welds thousands of pieces of metal together to create something altogether new. Nuts and bolts blend seamlessly with larger pieces of scrap in his work, providing his sculptures with smooth curves and sleek sophistication. He uses screws and springs to replicate human hair, winding chains to mimic tails on animals, and spoons to form feathers. In some of his most fearsome creations, long nails represent fangs and claws.

To keep up with Mock's work, be sure to follow him on Instagram. You can learn more about the artist and purchase small-scale pieces through his website.

Twisting Tornadoes Come to Life in This Artist’s Stunning 3D Embroidery

Embroidered Scene Showing Tornado Going Across Grain Field

Artist Erika Tu'avao reimagines the classic landscape embroidery hoop by giving it a three-dimensional edge. Tu'avao, who lives in Provo, Utah, is frequently inspired by the stunning nature scenes around her, and these often translate into her work. By using needle felting techniques along with her embroidery thread stitchings, she is able to provide her sublime scenes of nature with perceived depth.

“I especially like layering felt to make 3D shapes like tornadoes and mushrooms, and yarn to make fluffy clouds or trees,” Tu'avao tells My Modern Met. “I am always trying to come up with new materials to add to my landscapes.”

Her creativity and ingenuity definitely pay off. From lush fields of grain to delicate flowers to huge, weathered trees, each of her embroidery creations are filled with beauty and rich color. She is also adept at adding visual drama with her twisting tornadoes, energetic lightning storms, and colorful cloud puffs. Each eye-catching scene only goes as far as the edges of the embroidery hoop it is stitched into, but one can't shake the feeling that they could stretch on for miles if they only had the space to do so.

Tu'avao initially picked up the art of embroidery in 2019 to help with her mental health. “A few years ago, my anxiety and depression was so strong that I was having a hard time functioning in day-to-day life,” she says. “Working on my embroidery hoops every day is what made me want to get up every day. Embroidery is a slow art, so every time I start a new hoop, it helps me to slow down my mind and focus on each little stitch that I make. I think part of that is just keeping my hands and mind busy, but I also think that being creative in general can be very healing. The colors and scenes of my embroidery hoops brought a lot of peace and joy to my life.”

Even though Tu'avao's creations have been woven with embroidery thread, some pieces resemble sprawling, immersive landscape paintings. By cleverly using color to provide an illusion of light and shadow, the artist is able to use tricks of dimension that are normally seen with paint rather than thread. Additionally, her expressive skies seem limitless, as they stretch on forever above the landscapes and add a dramatic edge to her work.

You can purchase original embroidery art via Tu'avo's Etsy shop, and keep up with her creative journey by following the artist on Instagram.

Some world records measure extraordinary feats of strength or perseverance. In fact, we’ve recently seen a 58-year-old woman make history for holding a plank for 4.5 hours straight. Other world records, however, make people wonder why they exist in the first place. One example of this is the “Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Dinosaurs,” which was set in Los Angeles in 2019 with 252 people. But several days ago, a group of over 3,000 dinosaur enthusiasts gathered in Drumheller, Alberta, to break this record.

The only rules that attendees had to follow were that they had to be in a full-body dinosaur costume with the headpiece and body of a dinosaur. Additionally, participants were discouraged from wearing ride-on style dinosaur costumes. Unsurprisingly, having 3,000 people pour into your town dressed in dinosaur costumes certainly creates for interesting visuals, and photos and videos have been popping up all over social media detailing the incredible sight. Thankfully, Drumheller was ready for the crowd of record breakers, and had set up a wide variety of activities for the visitors in their downtown area. These included games as well as live music, and the sight of a crowd of inflatable dinosaur costumes rocking out to local bands is a sight to behold.

Drumheller was chosen as the location of this record-breaking event due to its self-proclaimed status as the “World Capital of Dinosaurs.” This is largely due to the sheer amount of important fossil discoveries that have been made there. The town leans into this reputation, and is home to Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology as well as the “World's Largest Dinosaur,” an 86-foot-tall fiberglass Tyrannosaurus rex statue that is affectionately named Tyra.

In a town full of records, the crowd of 3,000 passionate dinosaur lovers just helped to add yet another one to the books. Even though Guinness has yet to publicly recognize the record, it will certainly be a feat that is remembered by all who participated for a long time to come.

Have you ever wondered what your pet gets up to all day? One TikToker (known simply as ih.gcj) recently decided that they were tired of pondering and attached a small camera to their cat's collar to keep track of what their daily routine was like. The results may not have been quite what they expected, but they are extremely entertaining nonetheless.

Thanks to the camera, internet users were treated to a video of a high-speed chase from the cat's point of view. It shows our feline tour guide chasing another cat outside of an apartment complex. The purr-suit is seriously intense, filled with hissing, panting, and a brief scrap between the two cats, during which the camera goes black and all we can hear are the noises of an active cat fight. The animals run beneath cars, leap over mopeds, and streak across grass and pavement at breakneck speed, all in a dazzling display of purr-kour.

It’s hard to look away during the chase, anticipating a final showdown between the cats with an ultimate victor; but, unfortunately, the video cuts off before we see whether or not the cat successfully catches up to its foe. It's hard to say what the offending feline did to enrage the other so deeply, but hopefully fights like these are rare and both cats got away unscathed. Regardless, the video certainly took watchers on a wild ride. Many viewers point out the similarities between the captured footage and scenes from nail-biting action movies; some even argue it's better than most blockbusters out there.

If you found yourself unable to look away, you're in luck. It looks like the pet owner’s entire TikTok account is dedicated to addictive videos such as these. Their cat is undeniably the faceless star of this POV show and strangers around the world are tuning in to see what mischief they get up to next.

Like many little girls, Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi grew up playing with Barbie dolls. Now, she has one designed after her. Her doll, which is part of the brand's Inspiring Women Series, was released just in time for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May.

Yamaguchi, a two-time world champion and Olympic Hall of Famer, made history at the 1992 Olympics for becoming the first Asian American woman to win an individual figure skating gold medal. The doll design captures the likeness of the skater at those Olympic games, down to the sparkling black and gold leotard and the red and white bouquet that she held atop the podium. The doll also features her signature poofy 90s style bangs that Yamaguchi was sporting at the time.

Her victory came at a time when there were very few Asian American role models, and even fewer were women. While she was competing, some people in the figure skating community were concerned about Yamaguchi's race impacting her marketability and ability to get endorsements. But despite these challenges, the skater persisted and managed to cement herself as one of the greatest American female figure skaters of all time.

“It's a huge, huge honor,” Yamaguchi told The Associated Press. “I think a lot of pride comes along with it, not just recognizing the Olympic achievement, but also being recognized during AAPI Month and following in the footsteps of some incredible women that I idolize—Anna May Wong, Maya Angelou, and Rosa Parks.”

Yamaguchi’s Barbie doll is now available for pre-order on Mattel’s website, Target, and Amazon.

Mattel recently released a Barbie doll designed after the Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi.
