6-Year-Old Girl Breaks World Record for Lowest Limbo Roller Skating

Limbo skating is one sport that many people may not have heard of; but once you see it, i you’ll never forget it. The activity is a feat of athleticism and acrobatics, as it involves participants riding on roller skates underneath a low obstacle. In practice, this manifests itself in the form of the athlete basically doing the splits while pressing their body as low to the ground as possible, hence the “limbo” part of the name. Needless to say, the sport is extreme and requires a huge amount of flexibility and core strength. Surprisingly, the record for the lowest limbo skate has just been set by a 6-year-old girl.

Takshvi Vaghani, the new Guinness World Record holder from the state of Gujarat in India, made history with her impressive achievement. The record for lowest limbo skate wasn't actually measured by how low to the ground she got—instead, she became the record holder by skating for 25 meters (about 82 feet) straight. She also managed to do this while staying only 16.5 centimeters (less than 6.5 inches) above the ground.

Vaghani has been practicing her sport since she was 3, meaning that she has been doing this for half of her life. It seems that her passion has certainly paid off, as she is being labeled a limbo skating prodigy. Since it is so early on in her athletic career, one can only wonder what other accomplishments the young skater might be able to add to her repertoire in the years to come.

The video of her accomplishment recently made its way to Reddit, where the comments section is filled with praise and congratulations for the tiny titan. Some chimed in with puns, with the top comment saying, “It's a good achievement, but it was a very low bar.” Additionally, others point out that after she is done skating, she needs to get up at the end without using her hands, or else it invalidates the entire record, which certainly makes her athletic feat even more astounding.

Teachers are in unique positions to impact their young students' lives and make positive change. This influence is especially important when students are young. That's why many people have fond memories of their elementary school teachers and the supportive relationship they forged with them. A recent viral video illustrates this wholesome and long-lasting connection perfectly.

In the video, a teacher from Thailand demonstrates the morning welcoming process for her pupils. Her students—who number 17 in total—each approach the classroom door in a straight line. Once they get in front of their teacher, they can press their hand against one of six papers hung up on a small board. Each sheet has a different illustration on it, symbolizing a form of greeting. By selecting an image off the board, the student is given the opportunity to decide how they greet their teacher that day. The short video shows some children opting to press the red heart drawing, which earns them a hug from their instructor. Others choose to do a shimmying dance or jump, and the jovial educator joins in on the fun. The most reserved students prefer a high-five or fist bump. Regardless of what they choose, it is clear that all of the students love their teacher.

The video has recently gone viral on Reddit, with commenters weighing in and sharing their opinions. Many wondered if students were influenced by the classmates that went before them when making their decisions. Others shared heartwarming stories about their child's teacher doing something similar at their local school. If the comment section is anything to go by, most of the Redditors who chimed in would have chosen a hug, and that also seems to be the most popular decision amongst the students.

When The Sports Bra first made international headlines, it was because of its daring concept. This sports bar, located in Portland, Oregon, vouched to only show women's sports. This was inspired due to the gap in coverage and attention female athletes and women's sports leagues get in comparison to their male counterparts. While some didn't believe in this concept, a community quickly thrived and grew beyond its walls. Now, after two years of operation, The Sports Bra has become so successful that they recently announced plans to franchise and expand.

“This is an exhilarating time for women’s sports, and The Sports Bra has proven the strong need for more places to celebrate them,” says Jenny Nguyen, founder and CEO of The Sports Bra. “I envision a future full of Sports Bras everywhere doing what we do best: supporting women.” Nguyen opened the bar in 2022, investing her life savings in the idea. It as reported to have returned $1 million in just eight months.

The 776 foundation, an organization led by entrepreneur Alexis Ohanian, is now making an investment in The Sports Bra. Ohanian is one of the co-founders of Reddit and part owner of Angel City Football Club in the NWSL. Ohanian is also married to tennis superstar Serena Williams, and is a founder at Seven Seven Six, self-described as “a tech company that deploys venture capital.”

“At Seven Seven Six, we’re enthusiastic about the incredible advancement in women’s sports,” says Ohanian. “Our foundation is proud to back The Sports Bra, which is a welcoming place for everyone to celebrate these athletes’ feats.”

The investment in The Sports Bra comes at a great time for women's sports, with the 2024 NCAA women’s basketball tournament and the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team matches breaking viewership records. But knowing that's not the end of the road, 100% of the returns from 776 Foundation’s investment will be earmarked for future donations to boost future generations of female athletes.

Nguyen says, “When I first opened The Sports Bra two years ago this month, I had no idea the impact it would have on so many so quickly. Now I can see we’re just getting started. With the support of Alexis and 776, we plan to bring The Bra to cities across the country and beyond, and continue to invest in our mission.”

Due to the rising cost of rent and seemingly endless mortgage payments, many people have opted for alternative housing opportunities. Van living is especially popular among college students and young adults, and there is a growing number of families living out of RVs and renovated school buses. Some retirees are opting to spend most of the year on cruise ships, as they have found that it is more affordable than staying in their homes. But one teenager in Germany has decided to take advantage of his country's sprawling rail system, and has begun living on trains full-time.

Lasse Stolley is a 17-year-old German software developer who spends his mornings grabbing breakfast inside the first-class lounge and his evenings in sleeping cars. He showers in gyms and leisure areas, and washes his laundry at train stations. At a time when many teenagers are buying new clothes and gadgets, Stolley is able to fit all of his possessions into a single backpack, including three outfits, hygiene supplies, sleeping necessities, and technology.

The teenager has been living this way since he was 16, when he graduated from high school. He says that initially convincing his parents was a struggle, but eventually, they let him go. At first, it was difficult acclimating to life on the train, as Stolley had trouble sleeping for the first couple of months, plus he also had to be cautious to make sure his belongings didn't get stolen at night. But after his initial difficulties, he was able to settle into a routine and thoroughly enjoy himself.

The best part about Stolley's lifestyle is the freedom that comes along with it. Thanks to the flexibility of his job, he is able to work at different times of the day and take impromptu day trips. He takes advantage of this quite often, traveling all over Germany and the rest of Europe. On an average day, Stolley can travel over 600 miles. At 17, he has traveled to more countries than many people ever will in their lifetime, and he shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.

Surprisingly, Stolley's living arrangement is remarkably inexpensive. It costs approximately €10,000 (about $10,650) per year, and most of this money goes towards his first-class annual rail-card. Since a month's worth of rent in Germany costs €942 (about $1,008) on average, train life is an appealing option for a young adult with dreams of traveling. While it would be nearly impossible to do this in the United States, where the rail system is much more limited, Stolley's success is certainly an inspiration to anyone looking to explore while also earning a paycheck. Perhaps we can learn a thing or two from him.

Lasse Stolley is a 17-year-old who lives on trains in Europe full-time as a way to save money and see the world.

Have you ever considered what it would be like to visit an art exhibition without being able to see it? It may seem strange, but for millions of visually impaired people, this is a reality. But just because someone might not be able to see the art doesn't mean that they can't appreciate it. A recent video of artist Daniel Arsham showing Dr. Hoby Wedler, an American chemist, educator, and entrepreneur, one of his sculptures proves this. Dr. Wedler was born blind, but that does not stop him from insightful commentary on the art.

In the video, we see Arsham at his new exhibition in Venice, leading Dr. Wedler toward one of his signature sculptures. The artist takes Dr. Wedler's hands and guides them up the sculpture from the base. Known as a tactile tour, this is a common practice in museums and galleries when visually impaired visitors wish to enjoy the artwork.

As Arsham begins to explain the sculpture—which is from a series of pieces based on Star Wars—Dr. Wedler's enthusiasm is palpable. As with much of Arsham's work, there are crystals incorporated into the figure. Dr. Wedler inquisitively asks what the stones are and then astutely mentions how he realized that they were quartz from the texture.

Arsham does a wonderful job of giving information but also leaving Dr. Wedler to discover the piece for himself. He moves Dr. Wedler's hands up the bust and asks him if he understands what it shows. Dr. Wedler correctly identifies that it appears to be human, and then Arsham lets him know that it's a Stormtrooper.

The men then continue with a discussion on how the crystals are incorporated and sourced before moving on to “view” another part of the exhibition. The video is a wonderful reminder that there is more than one way to enjoy art.

It is also an important reminder that anyone with a visual impairment should contact a museum or gallery before visiting to inquire about whether or not they lead tactile tours. More places than you may realize offer this opportunity, including the Vatican Museums, MoMA, and the British Museum. All it takes is a bit of advanced planning. Some museums even have 3D versions of their paintings for those with visual impairments.

Artist Daniel Arsham recently opened an exhibition in Venice.

Many people know Eminem for his illustrious rap career, which was equally groundbreaking and controversial. Regardless of praises annd criticisms about the artist's style, his impact on rap music, as well as American culture as a whole, is undeniable. Any longtime fan of the artist will know that he has struggled with addiction in the past, but this year, the rapper celebrated 16 years of sobriety.

Eminem—whose legal name is Marshall Mathers—chose to share his achievement on Instagram. He opted to not write anything on the post, allowing the silver Alcoholics Anonymous chip in his hand to speak for itself. The chip, which is engraved with the number 16 within a triangle and tucked beneath the branches of a tree, is a modest token of Mathers' milestone. Though small, it speaks volumes. Family, friends, and fans made their feelings for the musician's personal accomplishment very clear in the comments section of the post by filling it with an outpouring of love and support. Paul Rosenberg, Mathers' longtime music manager and business partner, appropriately wrote, “Sweet 16. So proud of you.”

Eminem's current clean lifestyle is worthy of praise but it did not come easy. His sobriety journey began after years of struggling with addictions to Vicodin and Valium. He suffered a near-fatal overdose in 2007 and this is what seems to have prompted him to take the steps to get clean. He turned to exercise in order to stay sober, as he found that running released the same endorphins that he normally needed to go to sleep. Anyone who has either struggled with addiction or knows someone who has knows how difficult it is to stay sober, so Mathers' accomplishment and his ability to change his life for the better has deeply resonated with many people.

If you or someone you know has addiction issues, please reach out for help. If you're in the United States, you can get help and find support groups for substance abuse in your area through USA.gov. You can also dial 988 to speak with a mental health professional, 24/7, in English or in Spanish. The lifeline also uses Language Line Solutions to provide translation services in over 250 additional languages.

Rapper Eminem recently celebrated 16 years of sobriety with a simple yet inspiring Instagram post featuring his AA chip.

60-Year-Old Woman With Shockingly Youthful Looks Is Crowned “Miss Buenos Aires” in Argentinian Beauty Pageant

Age is merely a number, and Alejandra Rodríguez is proof of that. The 60-year-old woman from Argentina was recently crowned “Miss Buenos Aires” in a beauty contest. The best part is that that's not the end of the road, as she will now compete in Miss Universe Argentina, the nation-wide pageant. In the event of a victory, she would represent her country in Miss Universe.

Rodríguez was only able to participate after the pageant removed the age limit established when the contest was created in 1958. Until then, only women between 18 and 28 were allowed to compete. Now, the only requirement is for contestants to be of legal age. Rodríguez wasn't even the oldest contestant at her pageant, as the other candidates were between the ages of 18 and 73. She was encouraged to sign up by a friend, who became a model at the age of 55.

The new Miss Buenos Aires never worked as a model before. Instead, she holds law and journalism degrees, and works in the legal department of a hospital while occasionally freelancing in civil and family law. She did, however, participate in a beauty pageant when she was 17 in hopes of winning in the ski resort town of Bariloche, in which she was named first runner-up.

“Back in my day and in my social circle, you had to study; what was expected of me was that I would go to college, that I would get a degree,” recalls Rodríguez. She has also said that she had to get over “stereotypes and prejudice” before entering the competition. “Nothing related to this was ever among my goals. And now this opportunity came up and I found it a very interesting challenge.”

When asked about the secret behind her youthful look, Rodríguez credits her vegetarian, organic diet, but doesn't take it to the extreme. She also goes to the gym three times a week. Since she's divorced and doesn't have any children, Rodríguez has joked that being single may be one of the keys to her beauty.

“As a result of all of this, I've been getting a lot of calls from friends, people who are inspired like, ‘if she's 60 and she's doing this, we can do it too.’ They say the 60s of today are the 40s of yesteryear,” Rodríguez says. “It's a new youth, people are living much longer, they are taking better care of themselves, there is access to other opportunities. There is a new paradigm in terms of age.”

The best vintners can tell you the region, grape variety, and year of production of a specific wine just from a sniff and a little sip. But can they also do it while running a marathon? Wine merchant Tom Gilbey put his skills to the test for a good cause. As the expert ran the London Marathon, he stopped at various points to taste 25 wine samples and guess at their origins.

Gilbey has made a name for himself on TikTok, where he shares his knowledge and advice on wine, earning the nickname of “the wine guy.” Ahead of the London Marathon, he announced he would be running to raise money for Sobell House, the hospice charity that looked after his mother in her final days of life. Gilbey had an original target of £2,000 ($2,488), but once his video running and blind-tasting wines went viral, donations soared, and his fundraiser has now passed £17,000 ($21,136).

The wine connoisseur chronicled his effort in one video. The premise was simple: he'd run the marathon and stop every mile to sample a wine. Ready for the adventure, he ran with two glasses attached to his fanny pack: one for the reds and one for the whites. Gilbey tasted wines from all over the world, from Chile to South Africa, from Australia to Spain with many coming from gas stations and mini bottles. Out of the 25 wines he blind tasted, he got seven completely right, four wrong, and 14 mostly right, as he did guess some of the details.

Due to his wine stops, Gilbey ended up completing the race in four hours and 41 minutes. Overall, he described the marathon as going “really well,” saying that he was spurred to run by the prospect of having a little wine at the end of each mile. To avoid getting too drunk to run, he only had small sips of wine or simply spat it out after tasting. “I think the pain of the running allowed me to not feel anything other than the urge to finish. I think it’s a great way to stay sober,” he told The Guardian.

“It’s my first experience of this going absolutely mad, and I feel very honored,” he concluded after celebrating the finish with a glass of champagne. Although he wouldn't go through it again, he would recommend others to undergo a similar crazy task.

Gilbey said, “I think in life, sometimes you get a silly idea that resonates but two silly ideas rarely resonate, so I’d encourage everybody to have a silly idea for a good cause and see what happens.”

An 89-year-old man named Mitsuo Tanigami set his sights on a mission—to visit his children Naoya and Sayuri. Although both are adults who live far away, he opted to take the scenic route by bicycle. Making the trek from Kobe to Tokyo is an incredible achievement, and the devoted dad pedaled a few hundred miles during his nine-day journey halfway across the country.

Tanigami purchased an electric-assist bicycle after many years of operating a photo studio. Equipped with his bike, a paper map, and a sense of adventure, the Kobe-native embarked on one of the most heartwarming voyages to visit family. Whenever he wandered off course, the fearless father would consult locals for directions. This created an opportunity for him to connect with people as he traveled through different places.

Beginning on March 17, Tanigami headed east on Japan's National Route 2. This stretch led him to his first official stop in Takatsuki City in Osaka. His journey continued as he biked past Mt. Fuji, the mountainous terrain of Hakone, and soaked in the waterscape of Lake Biwa. Tanigami paused to sleep at hotels or inns along the way to recharge.

Without hesitation, the octogenarian took the road less traveled, as he embraced the unpredictability of nature. High wind speeds, heavy rain, and rough terrain are a few different natural elements that Tanigami overcame during his quest. He recounts falling from his bike nearly 20 times and expressed difficulty hearing, according to Kobe NP News Japan. The adventurous senior mentioned how the rain impaired him from seeing through the lenses of his glasses. No stranger to a challenge, Tanigami hopped right back on his bike and kept moving forward.

Day three marked his arrival at his daughter Sayuri's house in Fuso in Aichi Prefecture. After spending two days there, he continued to Tokyo, arriving at his final destination on March 25. His 61-year-old son, Naoya, greeted him and expressed a deep sense of pride for this incredible achievement. The brave voyager recounts the trip by stating, “It was a tough experience, but I'm happy that I was able to make my son happy.” Although he opted to take a more accessible form of transportation back to Kobe, he plans to make the bike trip back during warmer months.

His journey to Tokyo is a true testament to a parent's love and and the importance of spending time with family. Tanigami's story is proof that exciting adventures can be had at any age.

According to a study by Priory Group, a provider of mental health care facilities, 40% of men in the UK have never spoken to anyone about their mental health. Aware of how important it is for people to check in on their loved ones, soccer team Norwich City FC released a poignant video for World Mental Health Day. The clip aims to help spot any signs of concern, challenging our conceptions of what depression may look like.

The video stars two Norwich City fans who attend several matches together. While one is quiet and aloof, the other is cheerful and outgoing. “At times, it can be obvious when someone is struggling to cope,” writes the soccer team in the caption. “But sometimes the signs are harder to spot. Check in on those around you.”

Titled “You Are Not Alone,” the short film was produced in close consultation with suicide prevention charity Samaritans. “Campaigns like #YouAreNotAlone can have a real long-lasting effect when it comes to reducing the stigma around suicide and we can't praise Norwich City's efforts enough,” said Annabel Davis, assistant director of external communications at Samaritans.

The campaign has been praised by other mental health providers, such as Mind and Heads Together, for offering a resource to increase mental health awareness.

“This is a stunningly powerful thing to watch; I would encourage any organization large or small, private or public—and indeed any individual to utilize this however they see fit to help others spread the message on the importance of checking in on the mental health of those around us,” said actor Stephen Fry, president of Mind. “The challenges faced by so many can seem like mountains, but there is truly no better message to hear than that ‘no matter how you might feel, you are not alone.'”

Since the video was released, Norwich City has received many requests to use the video to boost conversations in professional, educational, and administrative settings. Inspired by this, the club has made the video available to everyone. Those interested can send an email to youarenotalone@canaries.co.uk, and a staff member will reply with a download link and information on supporting resources.
